The Brady Street Boys Adventures

Eleazar, Jason, and Matthias Brennan simply don't compare to Terry, Gary, and Larry from the Brady Street Boys Adventures.

That's what I was left thinking after I read through my friend Katrina's series of 9 books in a mere two days! While the Brennan boys have their share of adventures, the Brady Street Boys have more than their share of adventures... every day.

The book series is set in 1987 in a small town in Indiana. It's summer, and the boys' mom has come up with a fruit of the spirit project to help them pass the summer (when they're not getting trapped in a tunnel or trying to get a skunk out of their tent, that is.). Gary, the middle brother, had his leg amputated due to cancer, and he wants to talk to the surgeon who did the amputation so he can set aside some of his doubts about the procedure. That would be easy enough, except said surgeon has... gone missing. That doesn't deter the boys, who go trekking across a few states in an attempt to find him (and encounter cheating fishermen and pet rats on the way!).

My favorite books in the series were 3 and 7, probably because the adventure was a little tamer in those. Still, you'd be surprised at how many things can go wrong when three adolescent boys try running a stand at the farmer's market!

These books also teach valuable lessons. Not only is the fruit of the spirit portrayed in an excellent way in each book, but also the boys get to experience it first-hand; for example, in the book about peace, the boys have a difficult neighbor boy and his pranks to deal with. And in the last book, when Gary feels like quitting, he learns to put temperance to work!

While probably anyone will enjoy these books, children ages 12+ especially will. Get 15% off through the end of October with code ABIGAIL.

Dear Reader, Happy February! Thanks for those who replied to the survey... if you haven't, there's still time! It should only take a couple minutes and comes with a free set of Bible verse cards! It's been interesting to read people's feedback. So far the top three categories of interest (in that order) are articles I write, personal news from me, and giveaways. I don't have any of those three things in this newsletter, sadly, but I'm working at incorporating more of your ideas going forward!...

Dear Reader, I haven't gotten too many responses on my survey yet, but one response that keeps coming through is that you all want to read more of my articles. The only problem is that I haven't written very many articles. I don't actually really like writing articles. And my favorite kinds of articles to write aren't always topics of wide interest (like the one I wrote about preventing preeclampsia.). That all being said, I'm taking a stab at writing another article today, with the topic...

Dear Reader, We have a cover winner! This also happened to be my favorite and my husband's favorite, so I was glad it was the clear winner! Quite a number of people indicated their second favorite in the notes, and it was interesting to see what everyone thought! Thanks so much for all the responses! Below you can see three samples from Book 4. You should be able to enlarge them by clicking on them. Also, I've put together another poll - this one so you can share your email preferences with...
